Shinsuke Nakamura Goes Old School

SWF Wrestling is proud to announce that the IWGP Intercontinental title will be defended at International Wrestling Wars. August 26th at the Butte County Fair, Shinsuke Nakamura will defend against one of the best wrestlers in the United States today, “Old School” Oliver John.

SWF owner, Josh Edlow spoke with sacramentowrestling.com about the gravity of this match. “I have said this on multiple occasions, Oliver John is the most underrated professional wrestler in the world today. He has largely been considered one of Norcal’s best kept secrets, but that all changes on August 26th.”

Underrated is correct, John has had what many consider some of the best matches in the United States, Mexico, Guatemala and Japan, including a match of the year candidate at the 2010 Cauliflower Alley Club convention against Go Shiozaki. That match received a 5 minute standing ovation from those in attendance, including Harley Race. That year, Oliver John received the Cauliflower Alley “Future Legend” Award.

Now, two years later, after a hard fought victory against two time IWGP tag team champion Rocky “Azucar” Romero, he has caught the eye of the IWGP Intercontinental Champion. “The SWF has a passion for competition.” Edlow continued. “No doubt the IWGP Intercontinental Champion fits right in with that passion. This is a sure fire match of the year candidate that will garner national attention. As the owner of a professional wrestling promotion, I am proud to bring this match to  the SWF. As a fan of professional wrestling, I am excited to see two of the world’s greats lock horns.
